A very rare dichalkon of Ptolemy II from Byzantion

PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy II Philadelphos, 285-246 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 11 mm, 2.66 g, 12 h), Byzantion, 254 (?). Diademed and veiled of Arsinoe to right. Rev. BAΣIΛ - ΠTO Eagle standing left with closed wings. Lorber B300b. Very rare. Very fine.

This issue was perhaps struck in 254, when the Ptolemaic fleet helped to defend the city of Byzantion against an attack by Antiochos II
